Hi, i was thinking about FEC (Forward Error Correction) as thats what i heard people use in WAN IPTV Products to protect against low probability ip packet loss. Does anyone of you use something like this today? Does anyone have a client which supports something like this (would need testing) and at which level do you add FEC? Unicast streaming

Hello. What about unicast streaming channels per ports? For example: stream {name "Dom Kino"; input { pnr 1; }; output-udp {remote-address 239.0.0.12; remote-port 1234; sap{scope global; ttl 5;};}; output-http {unicast-address 192.168.0.1; unicast-port 8012;}; }; And playing it with vlc http://192.168.0.1:8012 I hope it is very usefull. I am using PCIe cards from TBS: ib-technology.de Work fine, 3 cards in one PC, twin tuners so they give 6 tuners. If the clients can handle the A/V-codecs, containers and multicast you just have to demux the bouquet in the TS (and maybe adjust PIDs). DLNA means providing a XML-file with service descriptions via HTTP. From the author of the VDR-DLNA-Plugin (http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/plg-upnp/wiki) I know there are already standardized service descriptons for DVB. It would allow to use cheap consumer Media-Players, DLNA-capable-TVs, XMBC and Windoze Mediaplayer. That's why I'm looking for a rock-solid multi-transponder DVB-Multicast-Gateway with DLNA-announcement for LiveTV and a additional PVR-Box using that gateway. ;-) Renne

That's what I'm looking for! ;-) Headless low power DVB->DLNA-Multicast-Gateway feeding EIT/EPG into a database. A PVR-server would just use DLNA/HTML5 to provide EPG and recordings. But instead of netcat for recording I suggest a multithreaded recording process listening to "EIT running status" (with timer-fallback in case of unreliable TV-stations). Renne

Hi, I just found the Getstream Website! :-) Does Getstream support: - Dynamic usage of DVB-cards (waiting for the first Multicast-/HTTP-request of a bouquet and using the next available DVB-card/freeing DVB-card after all connections disconnected)? - DLNA-announcement (useful for DLNA-capable TVs/Media-players)? Which format does the EPG-data have in Pipe? Is it possible to use (x)inetd to get EPG-data of all tuned DVB-cards via TCP? Best regards, Renne

S2 PCIe card recommendation

Hello, I have a small server with already 4 PCI TT-budget cards, running getstream. I'd like to serve more streams, but there are no free PCI slots left. However, I have 3 PCIe slots free there. Secondly, I'd like to stream S2 as well. What cards can you recommend that I can use to stream a full transponder with getstream and which are PCIe and can do S2 (I could do without S2 if nothing else fits).
